Pastor Daniel J. Severson, Senior Pastor, Faith Lutheran Church

Pastor Daniel Severson was born and raised in Minot, North Dakota.  He is married and is the father of two sons.  His wife, Dr. Kirsten Severson, is a clinical psychologist in private practice as well as the founder and director of the East Bay Cancer Support Group. They have two sons, Eric, a graduate of NYU; and Carl, a junior at Las Positas Community College.

Dan received his B.A. degree in Comparative Literature at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He attended seminary for two years at Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey. He served as a pastoral intern at Faith Lutheran Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and completed his seminary education at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California in May of 1981.

Dan served first as assistant and then senior pastor at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Baltimore, Maryland from November of 1982 to April of 1994. He began his ministry as senior pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Castro Valley, California on April 17, 1994.
